BIBO Limited (BIBO) inaugurated a ‘FinTech Internship Programme’ this year.

In the eyes of Mr. Ken Wong, Chairman and Co-Founder of BIBO, youngsters in Hong Kong, blessed with the courage to innovate, are most suited to developing their careers in FinTech. He hopes the Programme would add to the city’s efforts towards nurturing talents, bringing out-of-the-box thinking into the financial sector in the future.

The Programme enrols local university students onto a 2-month internship. Shortly after the Programme opened for application, over 100 entries were received. With space limited, however, we decided to invite shortlisted students to take part in an information session and group interviews, featuring Mr. Pong Po-lam Paul, who provided students with expert advice on the development of FinTech in Hong Kong.

The information session was held on 5 June 2020. As the Founder and Chairman of the Institute of Financial Technologists of Asia (IFTA), Mr. Pong set students’ minds at ease in reassuring them of the bright prospect of FinTech. As universities have only introduced relevant major courses recently, the dearth of talents means promising career prospects. As the industry evolves in unprecedented manners, the field opens up enormous opportunities, especially for youngsters fearful of boredom and eager for challenges.

Students Performed Exceptionally with Out-of-the-common Ideas

Mr. Ka-ming Lee, CEO of BIBO, commended interviewees for their outstanding performance, marked by comprehensive displays of out-of-the-box creativity and impressive analytical capabilities. Through the Programme, we expect students to enhance themselves by learning how the industry functions, while deepening their understanding of FinTech, as well as expanding their networks, all of which will pave the way for their future career and cultivate their entrepreneurship.

Efficiency Lifted and Quality Guaranteed through BIBO’s FinTech Application

In line with the development of FinTech in Hong Kong, BIBO has continuously applied FinTech to raise operational efficiency and service standard. Besides, as part of our efforts to ensure compliance, we use a speech recognition system to analyse conversations between frontline staff and customers with embedded Artificial Intelligence (AI). The system can detect such sensitive words and phrases as ‘bankrupt(cy)’ or ‘complain(t)’, which warrant timely attention and follow-up by a special team. This will help ensure our offering of personalised and professional repayment solutions.

Investing in youth training is indispensable for the continuous development of Hong Kong. BIBO hopes that interns would seize this opportunity to broaden their horizons, as they continue on their path in related careers in the days to come.
